Restless leg Syndrome (RLS) is becoming more common in today’s era. Symptoms include an uncomfortable sensations in the legs with a strong urge to move their legs to relieve the sensations. RLS can cause an odd “itchy,” or “pins and needles,” feeling in the legs. The sensations are usually worse at rest, especially when lying or sitting.
The severity spectrum of RLS range from very mild to extremely intense. The symptoms of RLS are generally worse in the latter parts of the day. For some people, symptoms can cause extreme sleep disturbances disruption that can decrease their quality of life. In rare cases RLS can begin to affect a persons gate and generally give the person a sense of pain in one or both legs.
Research has shown that RLS has affected about 10% of the U.S population. It generally is found more in females but has been seen in both sexes in any age range. The most common symptoms are found in the middle aged or older.

Treatments For RLS:
There are several types of treatment for RLS. However acupuncture has shown to have great results with treating RLS. Painless treatments of two times per week have shown to drastically decrease the pain or discomfort that come with RLS. Acupuncture helps to increase circulation while decreasing any inflammatory response that may be in the legs due to RLS. This in turn causes any pain or discomfort to lessen quite quickly.
